How to Get More Clients as a Migration Agent

After years running my own practice, I’ve learned the agents who grow aren’t the ones who work the longest hours — they’re the ones who are easy to find and impossible to miss. Here’s what actually brings in clients, and what just wastes time.

1. Be findable on Google — with more than a homepage

When someone needs help with a partner visa, a refusal, or employer sponsorship, they search. If your site is a single homepage, you’re invisible for almost every one of those searches. The agents winning that traffic have dedicated pages for each service and visa type — a page for partner visas, one for 482 sponsorship, one for your city — each answering the questions people actually type.

This is the single biggest lever, and the one most agents neglect because it’s slow and technical. A proper website built for a migration agent is designed around these searches from day one.

2. Publish content — but stay in control of it

Google rewards sites that keep publishing helpful, current content. A blog answering real client questions — “how long does a partner visa take”, “what is the CSOL” — pulls in searchers and builds your authority. The catch for us: everything published under your MARN is your responsibility under the Code of Conduct. So the content must be written well, kept general, and approved by you before it goes live. Never hand your name to an “auto-blog” that publishes without your sign-off.

3. Never miss an enquiry

Most agents lose more clients to missed calls and slow replies than to competitors. An enquiry that isn’t answered within a few hours usually goes to whoever answers first. Two things fix this: an enquiry form that lands somewhere you actually see it, and a system that follows up automatically. This is exactly what WIDEN AI does — every web enquiry becomes a tracked lead, and Aria, the AI receptionist, answers the calls you can’t.

4. Turn every past client into two more

Your happiest clients are your cheapest marketing. A simple, systematic follow-up — a check-in when their visa is granted, a note at renewal time, an easy way to refer a friend — compounds over the years. The agents who do this consistently rarely need to advertise.

5. Look as professional online as you are in person

Migration is a high-trust purchase. A client is about to hand you their future and thousands of dollars. If your website looks dated or thin, you’ve lost them before the first call. A clean, current, professional site — with your MARN, real information and clear next steps — does a lot of selling before you ever speak.

The honest shortcut

Everything above works — but it’s a second job. Ranking pages, writing content, wiring up lead capture, keeping it all compliant: that’s weeks of work you don’t have. That’s why we built WIDEN Managed Website & Leads: we build your site, rank it, write the content for you to approve, and feed the enquiries into your practice — so you can do the casework only you can do.
